If you haven’t seen the story here is in the nut shell . Sri Lanka has the largest and well maintained Elephants orphanage in the world. Its called Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage. Recently two baby elephants were taken away from their mother where all were happily living at the orphanage and given to one of the main temple in Sri Lanka. I am really ashamed of Sri lanka’s highest Buddhist institute. As the followers of great philosophy Asgiriya and Malwatte Temples had the opportunity to refuse the donation from heartless minister. But they didn’t. Load Buddha was person who understood the relationship between mother and child. He went further by putting regulations where a young child can not enter to a life of Bikku with out permission of their parents. Its sad to see a Buddhist Country like Sri Lanka taking away child from a mother. Yes, it can be an animal but I doubt mother love changes from humans to animals. Especially when you talk elephants who are extremely smart.
I am bias because elephants are my favorite animals in this planet. I have had many close calls, but I still love them, who couldn’t, even poets have written poems about elephants. My biggest frustration was President Mahinda Rajapaksha whom I thought would do the right thing went and officially handed over the elephants to the temple.
Hardly 10 people read my blog in a given day, month, or even year but if any one read this please put a comment requesting elephants to be return to their mother and I am planning to print all the comments and forward them to both presidents office and both the temples.
Back in Minneapolis, and miss my family and friends. I had a great time in Colombo threw a surprise party for my parents 31st wedding anniversary. Only trade off is that I am back in states just in time to watch Lakers winning their 15th NBA championship trophy.
After 24 hours of flying finally I am home and this time its special for the first time there is no war in Sri Lanka. Coward Prabakaran is dead, Sri Lankan Army Crushed them. From the time I landed in Colombo Airport, I saw in everyone’s face that there is hope. Hope that this country will be peaceful place and a develop country without no LTTE.
Also for the first time i was able to surprise my parents. They had no idea about my trip and I wanted to do this for their wedding anniversary. So far I am on track, they were so surprise that when I rang our door bell my mom thought I was a thief.
War without casualties is an impossible task. Even though we don’t know how many of our soldiers sacrifice their lives to end this war, its not hard to do an educated guess on that number. When I think about it, I feel so guilty that I am here in United States working on my graduate degree while my fellow brothers and sisters are on the battle field to save my life. But at the same time everyone cant go to the war. Each individual can contribute in many ways.
But, I wrote this song to show my gratitude to our armed forces. And I wanted to show the world that a Soldier is another human and he also has a softer side, who has feelings like everyone else in the world. I do my job for pen and pencil and it happened to be that soldier needs a gun to do his job.
Mobitel hands over the song to Mr Gotabaya Rajapaksha
As usual US can never mind their own business. Don’t you guys have enough problems? If you have forgotten, I just like to remind, Economy, war in Afganistan, war in Iraq. So for a change why dont you go take care of those issues.
Sri Lanka doesn’t need some big brother to tell what to do. We have politicians that get elected from people’s vote, they will do that Sri Lankan’s ask them to do, and US, You don’t have to worry about us. Where were these Senators when US were shelling Iraq and killing thousands of innocent civilians while hunting down Sadham Hussain? A country that can’t finish a single war they started but try to advise entire world on how to do things, and if that country fails to listen what does US do? US hold on to giving away the funds, which I called chump change. At the end of the day, those funding goes back to US via all these NGO.
Biggest thing US can’t figure out is that “How the hell an Army from a developing country destroy worlds NO:1 Terrorist organization”? Bin Laden and gang is nothing comparing to LTTE, what does Al qaeda do, they hide in mountains and send rockets. LTTE, had the power from Land, Air and Sea, but we all saw how SL Army crushed them to death. So, as usual US can’t take it that developing country has a better military tactics than US. Both Obama and Hillary play the political game at their best. We all saw that, how did the LTTE based funding that Hilary got during her campaign started to make its headway.
For the first time in my life time, Sri Lanka is a free country from war. Every day I watch news and I see our brothers are fighting against LTTE Terrorists and my eyes get filled with tears. Simply because the sacrifice our Sri Lankan Army is making to save our country from these LTTEs. But today is a proud moment for every single soldier who fought this war. Because no more Prabakran and not more LTTE. Sri Lankan Army crushed the LTTE dream.
Dehiwala is coastal town geographically somewhat similar to San Fran and highly populated, highly developed suburb in Colombo District. Recently there have been major additions to Dehiwala skyline such as five start rated apartment complexes. Galle is an internationally famous town in Sri Lanka and Dehiwala is a major town that connect South and Colombo. During Tsunami Dehiwala Coastal area got effected but fortunately it was minimal. There are thousands of major bus lines cross Dehiwala junction in daily basis and not only that if you are traveling from South to Colombo or Colombo to any part of the South you have to pass Dehiwala.
In the map below, follow the Hill Street towards to your left, and you will see how breath taking it is…
Every year we wish that Sri Lanka will have everlasting peace but in back of our minds we never thought that dream will come true. But thanks to Sri Lankan Gov and Sri Lankan Army that is not a dream any more. So on this special day, I wish all the peace loving Sri Lankans a
Lord Naseby, Conservative Peer and Chair of All Party Parliamentary Group on Sri Lanka said if there is any genocide in Sri Lanka it is by the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) who hold civilian Tamils by force as a human shield in the war.
“This talk about genocide is rubbish. The only people who are causing genocide are the LTTE who are holding the civilians as a human shield,” he said when a LTTE propagandist in the audience charged the Sri Lanka government of genocide. Lord Naseby was referring to the Tamil civilians who are being held against their will as a human shield in the current war by the LTTE and who are being shot at by the LTTE when they attempt to escape on foot and by boat.
The British House of Lords member made this public statement , at a Forum discussion recorded in front of an audience , mostly consisting of British Tamil Forum members , at a studio in the Media House in Central London and broadcast by Press TV of Iran. A sympathetic labour member of Parliament to the Tamil movement in London , Jeremy Corbyn was the moderator of the show.
Labour Party Member of European Parliament Robert Evans, Suren Surendiran a spokesman of the LTTE front organization, the British Tamil Forum and Douglas Wickramaratne , President of the Sinhala Association of London were the other members of the discussion panel.
Lord Naseby further said , during the course of the discussion, international pressure should be brought on the LTTE to release all those civilians. He said no international pressure is necessary , as Robert Evans suggested, to declare a ceasefire , by the government. He said the Sri Lanka government is an elected government and it is the LTTE who must down its arms and surrender to bring the military conflict to an end.
The show had an ominous start when British Tamil Forum’s Suren Suthanthiran, said that a main grievance of the Tamils is that Sinhalese being the only official language . One of the Sri Lankan members of the audience pointed out Suren Surenthiran was making factually incorrect statements. He said in Sri Lanka , the Sinhalese Language and Tamil language with English are being used as official languages. Immediately responding Lord Naseby said the cry about Sinhalese language is very much dated as both Sinhalese and Tamil are used as official languages. Then Suren Suthanthiran said he was speaking about 1956.
From the audience: Why are you going back to 50 years. Is it to hoodwink? The part of the discussion on the language has been edited out when this was broadcast on . Wenesday March 11 by the Press TV.
The British Tamil Forum member Suren Suthanthiran faced an embarrassing situation when an English woman in the audience questioned about Child soldiers by the LTTE. The British Tamil Forum spokesman, in reply, kept on repeating “to whichever religion one belongs to it is wrong for one to kill another person” unskilfully evading the question. When the embarrassed moderator of the show Jeremy Corbyn, whose sympathies have been with the LTTE in the past, asked him for a specific reply for a straight question he was coming out with the same repetition turning the show into a comic show, participants commented. When a pro-LTTE woman from the audience said why question about child soldiers when so many thousands of Tamil children have been killed the reply was broadcast. She was not substantiating the statement.
It was very significant that the labour party MEP , Robert Evans was suggesting a Kosovo- Montenegro like solution for Sri Lanka at a brief moment of the discussion. But the pro-LTTE MP who has been repeating LTTE slogans in the past did not say how the LTTE is going to form a state from a 50 square kilometre size area from which they fight now nor did anybody asked him that question. Its population , kept under the threat of gun, are constantly running away from the area at the risk of life, according to reports.
But Lord Naseby immediately reacted to Robert Evans by telling that the vast majority of Tamils living in Sri Lanka do not want a two state solution. And he said when the British were seeking a solution for Northern Ireland they did not consider a two state solution.
The British Tamil Forum spokesman said they wanted a two state solution for Sri Lanka ’s problem.
Sinhala Association President Douglas Wickramaratne said that it is ridiculous people talk about a Tamil homeland in Sri Lanka since 60 percent of the Tamils live outside the Northern and Eastern provinces of the country. He said over two thousand years, Sri Lanka has been one unitary country governed under one king.
He further said since1985 Sri Lanka has been negotiating with the Tamil Tigers. He said during this time the LTTE have used every ceasefire to rearm themselves and prolong the war . Wickramaratne said a duely elected government under a democratic system has every right to suppress terrorism hurting the people.
A paediatrician who did not announce her name and spoke from the audience said she has had personal experience of dealing with the parents of child soldiers who have left Northern and Eastern provinces just because they feared that their children would be kidnapped by the LTTE. She said children are being kidnapped for war by the LTTE as UNESCO reports very clearly show.
More than 50 Sri Lankans who expressed that they wanted to participate in the discussions by email did not even had the courtesy of receiving a reply. An organizer at the studio said there had been too many emails to be replied to. But all prominent British Tamil Forum members were there to be seated and allowed to ask their propagandist type questions. Ultimately, they did not make any results since neither the questions nor their representative’s replies failed to make any impressions. (EOM)
Yesterday I was watching Travis Smiley Show and I must say that Dr Palitha Kohona Foreign Secretary reminded MIA to stick with what she is really good at it which is Music. As a musician I don’t see a “WOW” factor on MIA’s music or lyrics that she writes but I will still respect her work and effort as an artist. MIA’s father is an active LTTE supporter who also happened to one of the earliest members of the LTTE group. Going back to what MIA emphasize which was genocide in Sri Lanka, Do we really have such an atmosphere in Sri Lanka?
As Dr Kohona mentioned, those who claim this Genocide in Sri Lanka should come to Colombo or any other Government control area and get an experience on how we live life in Sri Lanka. Every leading school in Sri Lanka has Tamil Medium classes. In that case, if so called Genocide exists how come leading Schools like Royal College etc has Tamil Medium class rooms which allow Sri Lankan Tamil population to have equal opportunity. As a fellow Royalist who shared my high school life with many of my Tamil friends, It is really frustrating to see people like MIA using situation in Sri Lanka to label majority of Sri Lankan population as evil.
