Both LA Times and CBS News have confirmed that Michael Jackson has died from Cardiac Arrest. Regardless his personal life, MJ touched many hearts from his music and he was the number one entertainer. There is not a single person in this world who doesn’t know about Michael Jackson and his music. He became a start before he turned age 10 and I glad that I was born in a era where I had the opportunity to see MJ live at least on Television. MJ, may you rest in peace!.
War without casualties is an impossible task. Even though we don’t know how many of our soldiers sacrifice their lives to end this war, its not hard to do an educated guess on that number. When I think about it, I feel so guilty that I am here in United States working on my graduate degree while my fellow brothers and sisters are on the battle field to save my life. But at the same time everyone cant go to the war. Each individual can contribute in many ways.
But, I wrote this song to show my gratitude to our armed forces. And I wanted to show the world that a Soldier is another human and he also has a softer side, who has feelings like everyone else in the world. I do my job for pen and pencil and it happened to be that soldier needs a gun to do his job.
Mobitel hands over the song to Mr Gotabaya Rajapaksha
One of the worlds leading DJ, brilliant and extreamly articulate Radio show host Nihal has picked our Athamita Kasi song to play in his Bobby Friction & Nihal show. Booby Friction & Nihal show is one of the hottest Radio Show in BBC Radio One. Both Bobby and Nihal always provide us a platfrom to rise and tell our aesthetic story to the world. As a tabla player, song writer and a big fan of Asian Underground music, I have been religiously listening to Bobby Nihal Show week after week. And I am really honored and thankful to both Nihal and Bobby for selecting a song that I wrote to be played in BBC Radio One Bobby & Nihal Show for the second consecutive time. Last year Nihal played “Paa Salamba” track which I wrote for Ranidu for almost three weeks in his play list.
It is so cloying to hear a song that you wrote on a place like BBC…

Thank You for advocating our music. Because of you we thrive…
If you read my previous blog post you already know about the Atha Mita Kazi Track. Ok here we go on a nut shell, I wrote lyrics for Ranidu’s (Check Out Ranidu’s New Website) latest Track Artha Mita kazi (The Fake Friendz Song). I am proud to say that once again we put Sri Lanka on the world music map with the head held high. BBC Radio Adil Ray’s show is a well known international Radio Show that plays world music. Currently Adil Ray has put our song on his “Big One” collection.
It was the day after X’Mas (08), Ranidu was in Sri Lanka and we had just finish the “Sebalaneni” (Solider) Track. It was fun, Ranidu was at Ranga’s Studio finishing is “Amme Mathakai Nam” and “Nilnayaniye”. I was thousands of miles far away in Minnesota over the phone giving lyrics to Ranidu. So within 48 hours we finished two tracks. We had to it in such a hurry, because Ranidu had only few weeks left in his Sri Lanka trip. Keep it in mind that we may do things in a hurry but we never let down our standard, or the class of the product. Yesterday Ranidu just released “Athamita Kasi” Track which is about Fake Friends (be honest we all have them) on Facebook. If you have facebook account you can enjoy our work. The “Sebalaneni” track will get release soon.
Even though I was born in Colombo, I can say that I was born with the war. My parents saw how the war started and they always wished that it would end at least during their kids life time. But thanks to our brave soldiers, those wishers are no longer just wishes. Sri Lankan Army has brought those wishes to reality and given the freedom to Sri Lanka under one flag. Our fellow Sri Lankan brothers have sacrificed their lives to provide a better future for us and our kids.
As nation we have always been supportive for our brave soldiers. But its time to show our gratitude more than ever to men and women wearing uniform to protect our island from LTTE.
Thanks to Ranidu I got the opportunity to show that gratitude by writing a song for our brave soldiers. And I am glad to hear that all the proceeds from this song will be given to Sri Lankan Army “Api Wenuwen Api” Foundation.
Few months ago, Iraj send me one of his latest track and asked me to put lyrics for it. Thanks to the busy summer schedule I had, I didn’t have time to finish the song. Finally I started writing and finished a chorus and another verse of the song. I think I should be able to finish it by end of this weekend. Track is awesome and I am sure its going to be the next hit song in Sri Lanka. I have to finish the track and send it to Ranidu where he will add few changes(beats) to the track as well as his rocking voice. So everyone… wait until we blow all your minds with this track…
Also Thanks for all the listeners who made two of the songs that I wrote for Ranidu’s latest album as most popular songs in Sri Lanka. Check it out www.raniduonline.com
It was a great weekend, got a chance to fly back to the past and remember good old days… Also it was fun to hang out with Iraj after long time…
The show was a blast and we had sellout, I opened the with DJ Ruki and did some crazy tabla beat.. Big up for RUCHI for having me also BIG UP for RANIDU for having me to play with him in his Show.
The first official single Paa Salamba Sala- ft Anson was released on Radio1 and BBC Asian network in December 2006 and was the first Sinhalese single to be on the ‘A’ list of the Asian network. Lyrics for the album were provided by the usual friends- Bandula Nanayakkarawasam, Chanaka Jayasekera, Kelum Shreemal, Vasantha Dukgannarala and a childhood friend of Ranidu’s Anuradha Uduwage.
I am so happy to see my name with some of the leading song writers in Sri Lanka,
